It’s
one of those rare, beautifully warm summer days in San Francisco, and to
celebrate Herman’s sixty-third birthday, we spent the afternoon at Oysterfest,
down on the Embarcadero. There were dozens of wines to sample, and non-stop
oysters in served in every way possible—raw on the halfshell, baked, grilled,
in tacos, made into sausages. You name it, they served it. A great day with old
friends, good food, and superlative wines. Wow, I’m wiped out.
