The Elephanta Caves in Mumbai


A day on the water and The Elephanta Caves. A most impressive UNESCO site dating from the 3rd century BC featuring Hindu and Buddhist carvings. There are seven caves in all.

 Trimurti. Probably the most impressive carving standing 20 feet tall.

Children waiting to get into the site. Indian adults pay 60 rupee to get in. Indian children and students pay 30 rupee. We paid 500 rupee each.
