The Batu Caves Ayyappa Swamy Devasthanam in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Our first day of sightseeing in Malaysia...this wonderful cave was once a giant cenote. It is now a place of worship for the KL Hindu population. If the hundreds of steps up the mountain didn’t take your breath away, then the spectacular cave certainly did.

Our happy group.

I didn’t count the steps, but I’d guess somewhere around three hundred.

KL in the distance.

Hindu god images everywhere.

The cave is massive.

The cave is filled with aggressive monkeys. Keep you backpack zipped up and a tight hold on your camera. These thieves are crafty.

The backside of the cave opens onto a ring of cliffs.
