Learning to Make Dumplings

Why make dumplings, you may ask, when you can just buy them already made?
Well, if you have a friend that’s willing to spend an afternoon teaching you how to make them, why not take him up on it.

Thanks, Douglas, for a fun day of instruction and eating.
Me taking a break, waiting for someone to pour the wine.

A group effort resulting in some very personalized dumplings.

Always time for a little humor

Folding the perfect potsticker

Yes, anyone can make dumplings. The trick is laser-like concentration.

Potstickers fresh out of the pan.

Steamed dumplings. Pork and shrimp, shrimp and leek, pork and shrimp shuimai, and pork, shiitake and cabbage dumplings.

The best part of learning how to make them is eating as many as you want.

Annie and Ricco’s egg rolls.

For those, like me, who didn’t get enough to eat, there was Douglas’s spicy beef noodle soup.
Our host and teacher, finally getting to enjoy his labor.
