Negombo Beach, Sri Lanka

After 16 days in Sri Lanka, it’s time to move on. It’s been a great trip and we’ll definitely be back, but there is a little trouble brewing with tensions between the Buddhist and Muslin communities at the moment.

A last drive north to the resort town of Negombo where we rest two days, and then on to KL.

On the drive north, we decided to take an outing through the mangroves. The guy in the middle is our driver. He claims to be gay, but has a wife and two daughters.
Sri Lanka is not a place to be out.

I was very surprised that there were so few birds in the mangroves. We had a grand time being on the water, however.

We visited the Geoffrey Bawa house to admire the extensive gardens. Mr. Bawa was a famous, gay architect who built a beautiful home and garden in Sri Lanka, and filled it with great books and wonderful art. The garden is awesome.

The Bawa house with all it’s art, and the extensive gardens, were left to the Bawa estate’s caretaker.

Flowers in Bawa’s garden.
